Got kids who like hamburgers? Like pancakes, they’re one of those foods that can be made at home, but that just seem better somehow at a restaurant. Showing up consistently on foodie blogs’ lists of the best burgers is Foster Burger, a SE Portland joint that opened less than two years ago. It was named by none other than Bon Appetit as one of the best burgers in the nation. We could go on and on about the drool-worthy concoctions: the hand-ground beef, the housemade buns, the fried egg topper, the wedge salad and the truffle-oil-infused fries, but what we really adore is the atmosphere.
The rows of booths sit underneath hundreds of vintage concert posters (by “vintage” we mean to say there are bound to be adverts for several shows where you rocked out in the 90s). Wait staff provide playthings and amusements for the kiddos, who will probably order the affordable (and plain) munchkin burger.
Foster Burger has evolved into an awesome group outing with the addition of the winterized heated patio and a 100-foot projector screen—the perfect spot for after-game team meet-ups, birthday parties and special event viewing.
Foster Burger is open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Every Monday and Tuesday at Foster Burger, kids eat free (limit two kids per adult). Mention you saw the ad in NW Kids Magazine (our print partner in PDX) and it’s a done deal.
Foster Burger is located at 5339 SE Foster Rd. Visit fosterburger.com for the full menu and our viewing schedule.
