Memorial Day weekend is here! Swimming pools are opening, families are on vacation or dreaming about being on vacation. It’s not officially summer, but it kind of feels that way. And everything is turning up roses here in Portland. The Timbers have the home field advantage. The Portland Rose Festival kicks off weeks of family fun. OMSI’s new Narnia exhibit holds secret delights. And three train tours chug into motion, including the Oregon Zoo’s seldom seen steam engine. All aboard for an action-packed weekend!
Rose Festival CityFair (pictured)
CityFair features exciting new attractions (Vertigo!), a new entertainment venue with national acts, carnival rides, and the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Championship. People are also invited to visit the Danner Tribute Wall during Memorial Day Weekend to post pictures and notes to honor all Veterans (whether living or fallen) and service personnel currently serving our country. Portland Timbers vs. D.C. United

OMSI Narnia Exhibit
Most schools are closed on Monday, May 30, but OMSI isn’t. It’s an ideal time to check out their new exhibit. Step through the wardrobe and into Narnia, The Exhibition. See creatures, genuine artifacts, and costumes from the blockbuster film series. Opens Sat and runs through Sept 25, 2011, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm,, $2 plus museum admission, all ages. Event details.
Tyleena the Fairy Funkmother

Western Train Robbery!

Oregon Coast Steam Train
