The daffodils are blooming and the days are staying light longer. With all of the extra light, now is a great time to stay out a little longer to explore the town. This weekend, LEGO maniacs rejoice as not one, but two brick-building events are stacked up, including the Bricks Cascade LEGO Exposition a convention by and for LEGO enthusiasts, and the Jr. FIRST LEGO League show at OMSI, where kids will be showing off their mad skills with LEGOs mixed with robotics. Also on deck, the Blue Man Group and Ruby the Vulture rear their bald heads to entertain and educate, while McMenamins Grand Lodge turns 92 and throws a party like only McMenamins can.
Young and old LEGO architects from around the world show off their innovative LEGO creations to the public at the Bricks Cascade 2014 Public Expo. Vendors will be onsite selling T-shirts, minifigures, custom plastic elements and vintage LEGO sets. Grab-bag raffles will take place every 30 minutes. Jr. FIRST LEGO League
Watch as budding scientists Jr. FIRST LEGO League (FLL) show off their LEGO-robotic projects with bricks and moving parts. The Jr. FLL robotics program is meant for kids aged 6-9 and teaches design skills through LEGO building. Buckman Art Show and Sell
New artists, new dates and new times for this year’s 24th annual Buckman Art Show & Sell. Over 140 artists and craftspersons come together to benefits Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School and generate a significant portion of the school’s PTA income. Join the Audubon Society in welcoming turkey vultures back to the city from their long winter away. Hands-on activities, like crafting a vulture and mask, and playing games, like “Upchuck Chuck!” Kids will also have the chance to meet-and-greet the Audubon Society’s education birds, including Ruby, the turkey vulture, whose wingspan rivals that of a California condor’s. Blue Man Group

The Stompttoowners, a Celtic music group performing traditional Celtic music from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales performs today to get folks in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day a little early. A Gem of a Show
If your little ones can’t get enough of the rock treasures they find in the park, they’re going to love looking at all of the rare and beautiful stones and gems on this educational field trip. The Tualatin Valley Gem Club presents its annual rock and mineral show, featuring jewelry, gems, fossils, supplies, beads, door prizes, a silent auction and a special Kids Corner for those little rock lovers in your life.
