Presto the Magician!

Red Tricycle: Your community recently voted you “Most Delightful Birthday Entertainer” – what do your customers value most about your business?
Presto the Magician: The fun and joy I’m able to bring when I’m invited to be part of a special event. They appreciate that I’m able to entertain everyone at the event. The adults have just as much fun as the kids!

RT: What do you want people to know about your business that they don’t already know?
PM: I also entertain as “Kevin Allen” for adult events like corporate parties, weddings, etc. I enjoy performing for kids and families, but I love that I can use my magic to entertain at any event.

RT: How did your business get started and what was the motivation?
PM: I tell people I got started in magic when I was just 8 years old, and never grew up! (find more in the ‘about me’ section on my page at http://www.PrestoTheMagician.com).

RT: Tell us, what do you start your morning with: 1. coffee 2. tea 3. mimosa 4. water 5. all of the above.
PM: Water. (Actually, I’m a bit of a health nut, so I’ve been trying to start each day with a green juice!)

RT: What is the most awesome thing a customer has ever done for you?
PM: I’ve gotten some cool perks over the years like suites at resorts, large gratuities, and even gift cards and credits, but absolute favorite is when a five year old gives me a hug, thanks me for coming and won’t let me leave without taking a piece of her birthday cake.

RT: What is your biggest pet peeve as a business owner?
PM: The paperwork! If I had it my way, I wouldn’t charge anyone anything, I’d just go around performing magic trying to make the world a better place. The reality is, I have to charge for my services, there are bills to be paid, things to buy, invoices to send, and the business has to grow.

RT: How do you keep your stress levels down?
PM: Taking vacations, trail running, being in nature, playing racquetball. Managing stress is definitely something that is constantly on my mind. A little stress is good. I still get butterflies before each show, no matter how small or no matter how many times I’ve performed something. It’s the big stress I try to get away from!

RT: What’s your secret superhero power as a business owner?
PM: I can make almost any kid laugh within just a few seconds of meeting them!

RT: Tell us, what is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received (as a parent or business owner)?
PM: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined”- Thoreau”

RT: How about the worst piece of advice you’ve ever received?
PM: Don’t worry, eight slices of birthday cake every weekend won’t make you fat!

RT: Is there a special offer you’d like to include for Red Tricycle readers?
PM: $25 off any magic show!
