“Schoolyard Farms’ Summer Day Camps help kids unplug, connect to nature, build community and develop healthy living habits–skills every child can benefit from in our increasingly fast-paced world. Camp kicks off on July 10th and runs through September 1st for eight sessions at Candy Lane Elementary School in Milwaukie, OR. Rising 1st graders through 6th graders will experience a week-in-the-life of an urban production farm while exploring the schoolyard, performing farm tasks, preparing healthy snacks, and participating in farm arts and crafts activities, scientific inquiry, and active play. Outdoors all day!
About Schoolyard Farms:
Schoolyard Farms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that partners with K-12 schools to build working farms on their schoolyards. We teach kids where their food comes from, how to grow it and cook it, so they can grow up to be healthy food citizens.
We envision a world where school-based farms teach everyone where fresh, nutritious food comes from, how to grow it and cook it. Where high schools prepare students with green job skills so they can become the leaders of tomorrow. And where small-scale farming thrives, creating viable local jobs and a healthier food-system. Through our work, the next generation will grow up to lead healthier, more productive lives.”
