Click through the slideshow to see how these women are powering up the food industry.

Kate Torgersen, Founder of MilkStork

Kate Torgersen believes that working moms face so many tradeoffs and compromises that providing our children with best possible nutrition – breast milk – shouldn’t have to be one of them. That’s why she founded MilkStork, the first and only breast milk shipping service for business traveling, breastfeeding moms. She is committed to helping traveling and breastfeeding moms get their milk home to their babies. Kate, her husband, three kiddos and new kitten are a tight-knit family living in Lafayette, CA. They spend the weekends outside on bikes exploring the surrounding neighborhoods.

Proudest Professional Accomplishments: “The idea for Milk Stork couldn't have come at a more inconvenient time. I was working full time, had a 4-year-old and have 8-month-olds twins. It would have been so easy to let the idea drift out of mind. Instead, I decided to follow through on it. I'm proud that I decided to go for it. It wasn’t easy then, and it isn’t easy now, but I am honored to be helping working moms maintain their commitment to breastfeeding.”
