Roald Dahl fans get excited! The classic book and cult hit movie The Witches is hitting theaters next year.

You might remember the ‘90s version of The Witches starring Anjelica Huston, most notably for that gasp-inducing scene when Houston tears off her human disguise to reveal the ugly witch underneath. The movie was based on the Roald Dahl classic of the same name and now the story is getting a new big screen adaptation.

The film, which stars Anne Hathaway filling Huston’s big pointy shoes as the Grand High Witch, begins filming next week and officially has a release date. The film is now set to roll out in theaters on Oct. 16, 2020.

Director Robert Zemeckis who has lent his talents to some of the best films of all time (Back to the Future anyone?) also wrote the script which is said to stick more closely to the book than the first film adaptation.
