Mother Mag x Lonny Lounge at West Coast Craft
and Lonny are hosting a lounge at West Coast Craft, which brings together the wares and works of some 250 artists, designers and craftsmen and craftswomen. Get Festive at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair
A cherished Bay Area holiday tradition, The Great Dickens Christmas Fair & Victorian Holiday Party returns to the historic Cow Palace for five weekends. Each holiday season, the elves of The Great Dickens Christmas Fair magically transform over three acres of exhibition halls into the delightfully lively world of Charles Dickens’ London. Cheerful calls of street vendors meld with songs of holiday carolers; enticing aromas of roasted chestnuts and hearty foods fill the air; and inviting shops overflow with one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts. As they explore the theatres, pubs and winding lanes of Victorian London, guests are surprised and amazed at every turn by the vibrant street scenes and colorful characters out of Victorian life and fiction, including, of course, Mr. Dickens’ lively imagination. Bring Your Budding Botanist to this Garden Program
Begin a love for plants and gardening at an early age! This introductory hands-on workshop teaches the basics of botany and growing plants. You’ll get to do seed collecting, look inside plant parts, talk about pollination, and start your own seedlings to bring home. Sat. Event details.
Help Clean Arroyo Viejo Creek at Oakland Zoo
Come volunteer at Oakland Zoo’s Arroyo Viejo Creek. Volunteers work on a variety of tasks that may include: picking up garbage, pulling invasive species, spreading mulch, moving materials, cleaning signage or planting native plants. Volunteers meet just inside the Zoo’s lower entrance right next to the Arroyo Viejo Creek Habitat Restoration sign. Sat. Event details.
Soar to Neverland with Peter Pan and Co.
f some days you just don’t feel like being a grown-up then this is the play for you. Come to magical Neverland, the home of mischievous Peter Pan and his gang of lost boys. Work at the Farm then Kick Up Your Heels
Give back and live it up at Pie Ranch in Pescadero! Grab your work gloves, gardening tools if you have them, and sturdy shoes and work on the farm tilling soil, pulling weeds, and cutting plants (at noon.). At 3 p.m. you can join a farm tour ($12-$20/person) to learn about the agriculture of the 27-acre ranch. Visit with cows, goats, chickens, and pigs, too. Then at 5 p.m. trade your work boots for dancing shoes! Bring a dish to share at the potluck dinner and and kick up your heels at the barn dance that follows featuring the Country Line Pickers. Sat. Enjoy and help prepare a re-creation of Snoopy’s Thanksgiving meal of toast, popcorn, and jelly beans from the classic television holiday special, along with hands-on crafts, an ice cream dessert provided by Cold Stone Creamery of Sonoma County, eggnog from Clover Sonoma, and other fun family activities!
