Explore: Willow Glen and Happy Hollow Park and Zoo

Willow Glen has a charm of its own, with its friendly, small-town feel. The main street, Lincoln Avenue, is lined with stylish shops and boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Neighborhood homes include lovingly-preserved Spanish Colonials and Craftsman bungalows. Be sure to visit nearby Happy Hollow Park and Zoo, a really cute outdoor adventure park for young kids.

When to go: The annual Willow Glen family-friendly street party Dancing on the Avenue is coming up on Saturday June 25, otherwise, anytime!

Approximate travel time: San Jose is located 45 miles south of San Francisco.

Where to have lunch: Take a picnic to Happy Hollow, eat at the Picnic Basket restaurant there, or head to Le Boulanger Café or Willow Street Wood-Fired Pizza on Lincoln Avenue.

How to dress: The weather is usually mild and sunny, but take a layer for a cloudy/breezy day.

Bonus: Stop by the super-popular Willow Glen Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream Co. www.wgfroyo.com for dessert.

Cost of trip: Inexpensive (Happy Hollow’s entrance fee is $12 and includes all rides, puppet shows, playgrounds etc. Babies under 2 are free.)
