Is your kid’s culinary passport stamped solely with Italy? (AKA they are fluent in the language of pizza, pasta and bread.) We suggest adding some spice to the family dining routine and trying some of these delicious and family-friendly San Francisco restaurants that specialize in cuisine from around the world. Whether it be Burmese, Vietnamese, Indian or Ethiopian, we’ve found that even the pickiest eater can discover a new favorite dish (Udon is simply spaghetti from another mother!).

Ethiopian: New Eritrean Restaurant and Bar

Who doesn't like eating with their hands? In this Ethiopian restaurant, the meals are typically served on a large, circular piece of flat bread that you also use to eat your food—no forks needed! This family-run spot sends out flavorful dishes, and quite a few pack some heat, so it may be better to let mom and dad taste. Mild options for first timers are"Kelwa," a mix of cubed skinless chicken breast sauteed with mixed vegetables and served with dollop of yogurt, or any of the "Alicha" dishes. Little ones will love the Injera (eritrean bread) with yogurt.
