The Bay Area Children’s Discovery Museum is debuting something cool this winter, an ice-less skating rink. While the ice may be missing (and maybe some icy bumps and bruises) the fun definitely is not. Here’s now it works. Children must come with socks and closed toed shoes. They strap on a pair of supplied ice skates and they can glide around the synthetic rink in Discovery Hall. The rink is open Tues-Sun. Nov. 19 through Jan. 8 (it’s closed for the noon NYE party). Entry is free with museum admission and offered on a first come, first serve basis on weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and until 5 p.m. on weekends.
