There is nothing quite like the magic of flying a kite. Except maybe the magic of hundreds of kites taking flight all at once. That’s just what will take place on April 1 at Carmel Valley Ranch, during their first ever April Kite Festival. Read on for all the details, and make sure to get that kite in flying shape for the big weekend!
High Flying Fun
Beginning Saturday at noon, all eyes will be in the sky at Carmel Valley Ranch, one of Carmel’s premiere resorts. Out on the grassy expanse known as Pete Dye Gold Course Driving Range, colorful kites will be taking flight. The Berkeley Kite Wranglers will be there, putting on a jaw-dropping arial performance featuring their fleet of custom made kites, some 80-to-100-feet long!
The first 200 attendees to the free event will even receive their very own kite building kit. In addition to the high-flying antics, there will be games, food stalls and kite-flying competitions.
Stay and Play in Carmel
If you want to make a mini vacation out of it, we suggest booking a room at the gorgeous Carmel Valley Ranch— the 500-acre summer camp inspired resort just named the #1 Northern California resort in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards. There is plenty to see and do and Carmel, so while you will likely spend all day Sunday committed to kite-flying fun, make sure to explore the town and see what else is on offer.
