San Francisco Kids Weekend Events: Feb 10-12

Celebrate Valentine’s Day in lots of fun ways this weekend! Meet some cuddly rabbits and have a slumber party with some exotic creatures. See a lady who loves bubbles, and a girl who just likes to think pink! Decorate sparkling cards at a Valentine Making Party in San Francisco. See colors in a new light at the Pinkalicious Musical Theatre production in Berkeley. Show off your family’s dance moves at the Father-Daughter & Mother-Son Valentine’s Day Dances in Belvedere.

Valentine Making Party
Come and make Valentines for your family and friends in their art studio. Decorate them with glitter, sparkles, jewels and more! This will be a fun afternoon of arts and crafts, story time and a little bit of music too! Families are welcome to come and play in the space for the entire afternoon. Fri., 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Penguins+Pajamas Academy Sleepover
Listen to the evening songs of the rainforest birds and sing “twinkle twinkle” to a sea star at the Discovery Tidepool. Then head over to African Hall to interact with a Penguin specialist, and become a stargazing guru during an after-hours planetarium show. Before bedtime, settle in for story time while snacking on cookies and milk and learn about Pierre, the Academy’s famous wetsuit-wearing penguin. Fall asleep in your sleeping bag in the museum, and in the morning head over to the Academy Cafe for a continental breakfast. Sat., 6:00 pm – Sun., 8:00 am. Pinkalicious Musical Theatre
Being in the pink isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be! In this glittering musical, Pinkalicious and her brother, Peter, learn that a little bit of what you love can go a long way as they exemplify being “pretty in pink.” The show is based on the book by Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann, with music and lyrics by John Gregor, Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann. The Bubble Lady
Enjoy delightfully clean fun with Rebecca Nile, The Bubble Lady! She will make everyone’s eyes pop by introducing them to The Bubble Family of spirit bubbles, baby bubbles, brother and sister bubbles and momma and poppa bubbles. Volunteers will be needed, and there will even be bubble big enough for a kid to be inside! Sat., 11:00 am. Concord. $9 per child. $3 per adult. All ages. Event details.

Father-Daughter & Mother-Son Valentine’s Day Dances
Attend the father-Daughter Dance on Friday, and the Mother-Daughter Dance on Saturday, for Valentine’s Day fun all weekend long! Both evenings will begin with photos being taken as a memento of the occasion, followed by a dessert buffet. Daughters will enjoy creating a special Valentine craft. Sons will watch a magic show and participate in party games. Everyone will enjoy dancing the night away to music provided by a DJ. Semi-formal attire is encouraged! Fri., 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. Saint Valentine’s Day Festival
Celebrate a family friendly Saint Valentine’s Day at the Marin Country Mart Farmers Market. Activities will include cupcake decorating, old fashioned Valentine making, eco art projects, face painting, pony rides, puppets and stories all from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Tim Cain’s music for kids will be heard from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Then listen to old time string band music by Brown Chicken Brown Cow, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Sounds lovely! Octopretzel Concert
Come for an afternoon of original Octopretzel songs, as well as tried and true traditional favorites. The show will be whimsical and fun, with an underlying sensitivity for nature, feelings and story. Best described as folk music, they weave together styles such as bluegrass, rock and roll, lullabies and even nursery rhymes. Sat., 2:00 pm.  Belmont. Free. All ages. Event details.

Rabbit Day
Enjoy seeing some beautiful and unique rabbits from the 4-H and Sacred Heart Students. Meet the rabbits and learn about how the rabbits live locally. Then create a simple craft project as well. Hop to it! Sat., 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Atherton. Free. All ages. Event details.
