Whether you’d like to admit it or not, you have much more in common with your stroller than you may think. You both transport the kids from point A to point B,  get covered in whatever yogurt/peanut butter/apple sauce mess they’re eating and need a little kid-free R&R from time to time. Give your wheels a much needed cleaning and repair at Stroller Spa, a new store in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood, that’s dedicated to making your stroller shine and run like new (even after baby #3). And for you, there’s a mani-pedi salon just down the block. It’s a win-win for everyone.

The Idea
Think of Stroller Spa as a detailing service for your wheels and carseat. Created in 2006 by San Francisco mama Jamie Mamikunian, Stroller Spa has burgeoned from a small-time operation run out of Jamie’s garage to a country-wide business in eight states (and one in Canada). Stroller Spa not only fixes your stroller’s broken wheels, cleans up spit-up from your carseat and eliminates any signs of pesky crumbs, but the business has grown and now offers The Stroller Exchange, Rental Services, and Bubble Wrapped! (Baby Gear Storage Solutions programs) as well. For Bay Area parents, accessing Stroller Spa’s services just got a whole lot easier with the opening of their first brick and mortar storefront in Presidio Heights.

Wheel On In
The store itself is super inviting to families (Exhibit A: the kids play area with a Waldorf-inspired doll house and lounge) and we love that you don’t need to make a reservation to drop-off your goods. Simply pop into the store anytime during business hours and stay and chat with Jamie and her staff over a cup of coffee. Don’t forget to look down and check out the glittered floor, a feature Jamie insisted on when creating the space. Talk about welcoming.

The Details on the Detail
Stroller Spa fixes all makes and models and is an authorized service center for Bugaboo, UPPAbaby, Bumbleride, Peg Perego and Maclaren to name a few so you know that your coveted gear is in good hands. Once you drop-off your stroller expect a turnaround time of 24 hours. The experts hand wash everything (yes, everything) with love and air dry the fabric. And, since Jamie is a mom herself, she understands the demands of being a full-time mom, which means she also offers loaner strollers so no parent is left without a ride.

Stroller Spa offers a variety of cleaning and detail packages. A cleaning that they call The “Uber Umbrella” (i.e. most medium sized umbrella strollers) will run you$59.99-$79.99 for a single and $89.99 for a double, The “Va Va Va Vroom” cleaning for a jogging stroller costs $119.99 for a single and $139.99 for a double, and The Coveted Car Seat cleaning goes for $19.99 for a booster, $44.99 for infant and $59.99 for a convertible. Stroller Spa’s menu also offers Al a Carte pricing such as Flat Tire Repair ($12-$15), Rust Removal (starts at $10) and Chassis and Wheel Clean/Tune-up ($50). Stroller Spa will also deliver your revamped stroller and even assemble and install your wheels or carseat for an extra fee. Be sure to check their website or call the store for more detailed pricing info.

We Love (and You Will Too)…
Although Stroller Spa has grown significantly since 2006, Jamie and her staff are committed to providing genuine and personal customer service. You’ll always be greeted with a smile and Jamie enthusiastically treats every product she repairs like it’s her own.
