the scoop:

Wildflowers, abundant wildlife, native plants, hiking trails suitable for even the wobbliest toddler, and a shipwreck? This is the Marin County jackpot! Part of the Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Tennessee Valley is a local favorite spot. Generally less crowded than some of the other headland areas, the easy 1.7 mile hike from the parking lot to Tennessee Beach is a must with the kiddos. Time it with low tide to spot the wreck of the park’s namesake: the S.S. Tennessee. Dogs are not allowed on the main trail.
