The best family outings have something for everyone. Fun and excitement for the kids, and creative learning that mom and dad can feel good about!

That’s what you’ll find at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. From mid-March through May the museum is featuring some exciting festivals and special events just for the under 10 set (and their grown-ups). Here are four spring events to add to your to-do list.

  • Stretch your imagination on BADM’s new boat. After a months-long transformation, BADM’s new boat, Faith, is ready to dock! A former fishing boat, she holds a real radio, telescope and more onboard for make-believe play and imaginative inventions.
  • Bring out the (washable) paint at the Messy Art Festival. BADM’s weekend-long creative festival (Mar. 30-31) will push the limits of arts and crafts with events like Spray Bottle Painting and Sand Mandalas, as well as brand new programs like Mural Dance Party (yes, it is what you think it is… kids dancing with paint on their feet!). Adults can explore new art techniques they’ve always been curious about, like Screen Printing and Ceramics.
  • Save the day at the Superhero Festival. May 3-5, the museum is welcoming kid heroes for its annual STEM Superhero festival, featuring fun programs and activities that empower kids to solve creative challenges and learn new skills.
  • Think bigger at Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice. BADM’s new traveling exhibit opens May 25. Travel back in time to explore unfamiliar landscapes, don a dinosaur costume and uncover clues about what these creatures left behind!
