Look What Daddy’s Cooking  

Yet another big-name chef has decided to call our fresh food culinary capital home: After traveling the world and climbing the culinary ladder in New York City, celeb chef  Tyler Florence  decided to set up shop with wife Tolan and their 3 kids  in Mill Valley. Since then, he’s been one busy papa–last fall, Tyler launched Sprout Baby Food, an organic baby food line that appeals to both gourmand parents and picky little eaters.  Tyler brought his comfort food kitchen skills to the line, by upping the flavor quotient through caramelization and small batch cooking, to create flavors like “Roasted Apples and Blueberries” and “Summer Squash, Yukon Gold Potatoes, and Parmesan.”  We love the BPA-free pouches that are easy to  toss into a diaper bag and tear open when it’s time to eat.

Marin’s new hometown hero is also quite busy on the restaurant front these days, with plans to open a casual (and sure to be family-friendly) joint in downtown Napa this summer–Tyler Florence’s Rotisserie
and Wine.  The restaurant will sit next door to his signature retail shop, The Tyler Florence Shop.  For now, check out the flagship store in downtown Mill Valley (59 Throckmorton Ave.) where you can pick up
Tyler’s latest cookbook, Dinner at My Place.  It features a whole section on baby purees as well as meals for adults that can be modified for kids.  Think “Butternut Squash with Ginger and Cinnamon” and “Spaghetti Bolognese.”  You can also visit the website for a collection of “kidz” recipes like “Ultimate Sloppy Joes” and
“Miles’ Strawberry Soup.” (named after his eldest son).
