the scoop:

Issaquah’s Down Home 4th of July celebration kicks off with the Kids ‘n Pets Parade at 11 am. From Labradors to llamas, favorite pets accompany costumed children on decorated floats, bikes, scooters and wagons down Front St. to Memorial Field.

After the parade, families can head to Memorial Field to spend the day playing old-fashioned games and enjoying pony rides, bouncy houses, water balloons, gunnysacks and three-legged races to win all kinds of fun, red, white and blue prizes. Kids can also dig in the hay for prizes at the Hay Hunt, enter their pet slug in the official Slug Speed Race and Beauty Pageant (amateurs only please) and participate in the pie eating contest.

NOTE: You need to provide your own slug for the Slug Speed Race. The day-of registration for the parade begins at 10 a.m. and takes place at the Holt Building, 425 Rainier Blvd. N.
