99 Monkeys: A Guilt-Free Neighborhood Fave Returns
All parents have had that post-party, guilt-inducing moment when you survey the paper and plastic carnage scattered all over the floor and wonder how many trees were downed for your kiddo’s special event. Guilt much? Don’t worry! 99 Monkeys (which just re-opened after a remodel to make room for more toys) has got you covered. More than just a new-to-you toy store, owners Alex and Megan have thought of everything when it comes to earth-friendly (re)packaging. So let your little ones tear in while you breathe easy.
Kids will go bananas!
You’ve heard of the kid in the candy store? Well, it’s true of kids in toy stores too! And this new-to-you, neighborhood toy store is no exception. Packed with gently used to never-been-used toys, the littlest tot will dig on the easy-view packaging. In fact, those curious minds and busy hands won’t be able to get enough. From trucks, wagons and dolls to Japanese animatronics, books and art supplies, your kiddos will romp, stomp and pick out (more than) a few favorites here. Just remember, you may have to give the five-minute warning five times over before your little ones are ready to leave.
Parents will flip
Quick! Name your favorite childhood toys. If Cabbage Patch Kids, Care Bears, or Voltron made your list, get ready to get your nostalgia on browsing the shelves for a favorite kitsch pick or collectible item. Best part? While you shop, the wee ones can play in the well-stocked play space that includes a giant chalk wall that would turn your homeroom teacher green with envy. And don’t worry mom, all the toys that come through these doors have been thoroughly and lovingly cleaned, then checked against the national recall registry, so you’ve got nothing to worry about.
As green as green can be, shopping here feels like you’re giving the earth a hug. Toys are saved from the landfill and then repackaged using compostable shrink-wrap, post-consumer recycled cardboard, and even soy based ink (for the store logo and pricing), so nothing goes to waste. It’s like the diet soda of toy stores—all the excitement but none of the guilt!
