Instead of trying to find creative ways to make your trick-or-treater’s candy disappear, consider putting the extra treats to good use by participating in the Halloween Candy Buyback Program. Kids can trade their candy for cash and Operation Gratitude will send the treats to our U.S. troops overseas. To make the candy buy-back process easy, we’ve compiled a list of Seattle-area dentists who will be buying all the sweetness back this year. Ca-Ching!

Drs. Allen & Kelly Smudde, whose Valencia-based dental practice was voted “2015 Best Dentist” in the Santa Clarita Valley, will be hosting their 7th Annual “Operation Gratitude: Candy Buyback” event on Monday, November 2, 2015, from 3pm to 6pm. The event, which is free and open to the public, gives children in our community the chance to relinquish their Halloween candy in exchange for money, dental goodies, and the opportunity to earn money for their school. All the candy and letters collected by the office will be sent to our troops serving overseas, via Operation Gratitude. Drs. Allen & Kelly Smudde will pay $1 per pound of wrapped candy that participants bring to the event. They will also donate $500 and $250 respectively to the top two schools that bring in the most candy. Children will have the opportunity to write thank you letters and to meet with our local Military Troops, who will be in attendance. All participants will receive free dental goody bags and will have the chance to enter several drawings for fun holiday prizes. Our troops and heroes serving overseas really appreciate the care packages we send. As Corporal B.R.M. wrote: “It’s difficult to keep your head in the game and remember why we’re here sometimes, and packages and letters like this are a great reminder. I can’t send any pictures, as I don’t have access to any sort of camera, but I assure you everyone here is very grateful and happy to have received such a package. You guys are doing a great thing. Reminders like this keep us all going. God Bless!” We encourage the Santa Clarita community to rally their friends, family and parent organizations to bring in their wrapped Halloween candy between 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday, November 2, 2015 at our office, located at 27450 Tourney Road, Suite 250, Valencia, CA 91355.
