Spring has sprung and on this day our trails will be open for your self-guided adventuring! Wild places are full of natural treasures and surprises around every corner. At this very special Afternoon on the Trails honoring Earth Day we encourage you to sharpen your observation skills as you explore our woods. Look down, wonder, and discover the beauty in small things. Our Investigation Station is back - and our naturalists are eager to connect with you about what you find out there. Bring a small shell, cone, pebble or natural item from home and our educators will help guide your identification process. the scoop:

IslandWood is joining up with REI this season and encouraging you to #OptOutside on Black Friday. Pack up those Turkey Day leftovers for the day with family and friends. It’s high time you explored the beautiful island’s temperate rainforest by way of our Suspension Bridge – or from a bird’s eye from our Canopy Tower. Enjoy your picnic lunch in one of the cozy Treehouses, a Bird Blind or under cover of hemlock boughs. No matter what the weather, the trails offer unparalleled beauty and comfort during this holiday season.

Pre-registration is encouraged at this free event.
