Join SCA, the University of Washington Botanic Gardens (UWBG), and Seattle Parks and Recreation for a day of fun projects at the Washington Park Arboretum. Get your hands dirty helping to improve the Arboretum with SCA members, staff, and community supporters, Woodland Park’s ZooCorps, UWBG staff, Seattle Parks and Recreation staff, Rotary Seattle #4, and many others! Register online.

SCA’s high school members will be leading the projects as we get our hands dirty removing non-native invasive plants, mulching, grooming trails, and other projects to improve the Arboretum.

Sign-in starts at 9:00 am with a kick-off rally at 9:30 am. After the rally, volunteers will head off to work projects until 2:00 pm.

Owl Prowl - full moon Saturday April 19th 8:00 - 10:30 PM $10/person Scholarships available Ages 8 and up Join us for this epic night time adventure! Under the light of the full moon, you will search for our resident barred and barn owls. Your prowl will begin with family lessons where you will learn about these amazing nocturnal predators, their habitats, behaviors and language including a dissection of owl pellets to find the bones and skulls from their past victims. You will continue with a night hike deep into the old growth forest where you will learn to speak owl and call out to your new feathery friends. Owls start hooting in January and continue well into the fall. For ages 8 and up (must have ability to stand still and be super quiet!) and anyone able to stay awake until 10:30 PM and hike 2 miles.
