Family Brunch at Tilikum Place Café

Weekend brunch is a great way for a family to experience a restaurant they may not feel comfortable visiting for dinner—the kids are generally in better moods, the crowd is more laid-back. If your little angels are on better behavior at breakfast than later on, consider an outing to Tilikum Place Café.
The space is cozy, which means it’s not meant for strollers or large family gatherings, but highchairs are available for those who need them and, if you go before 11 a.m., it’s not too crowded.
There are a couple of standouts on the brunch menu, including the savory Dutch baby, which on a recent day was filled with chorizo and cheese. More like a quiche, the savory Dutch baby was packed with flavor from the chorizo and delightfully fluffy. For the meat lover, the Fry-Up can’t be beat. The dish includes a house-made sausage patty, bacon, a cooked-to-order egg, baked beans flavored with bacon, and a mini baguette. The baked beans are particularly good. Coffee is available by the press pot. You also can order pastries or, for finicky little ones, just some baguette with butter and jam or Nutella.
Tilikum Place Café is serves brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. They are located at 407 Cedar St., and the phone number is (206)-282-4830. The word on this brunch spot is out, so try to go early or be prepared to wait!
