ABOUT US
Spoke Contributor Network
Join Kaleidoscope Dance Company as they present an afternoon of original, new modern dance works choreographed by youth ages 7-16. For the first time in the 36 year history of the Gift of Dance, the dancers have created and will perform their own choreography to live classical music. Musicians Annie Chang-Center, pianist, and Erika Pierson, cello, curated a selection of classical music and the dancers chose pieces that spoke to them. Listen and watch as dancers share work inspired by a range of composers including Rachmaninoff (Russian), Debussy (French), Bartok (Hungarian), de Falla (Spanish), and Gershwin (American). Kaleidoscope Dance Company engages in a collaborative process in multi-age groups, using choreographic forms and devices to compose work that is deeply personal yet universal in its appeal to audiences of all ages. Audience members are invited to join company dancers and Artistic Director Anna Mansbridge on stage for a community dance during intermission! Enliven your holiday season with this inspiring, uplifting, and family-friendly concert as Kaleidoscope Dance Company shares the Gift of Dance AND live music with you! Silent Auction (themed gift baskets and delectable desserts) to benefit the Creative Dance Center begins at 2:30. Delicious, homemade concessions are available prior to the show and during intermission.
