Who says kids can’t tri too? In this mini version triathlon, kiddos can choose from two categories–beginner or intermediate. See what it’s like to compete in a triathlon, test your endurance, or simply get your feet wet. All tri participants will receive a race tee shirt and a finisher’s medal. Ready, set, go!
Kids Short Course: 50 yard swim, 1-mile bike, approximately .5-.75-mile run.
Kids Long Course: 100 yard swim, 2-mile bike, 1-mile run.
Minimum age for participation in the kid’s triathlon is 6.
Note: Kids Long Swim Course – New for 2018. All kids participating in the long course will swim a 100-yard lap into deep water. Kids, please provide your own goggles. All flotation devices are welcome and encouraged. Ample lifeguards will be on hand to ensure the safety of all participants and waves of five kids will be allowed at a time to ensure all lifeguards are ready. Kids Short Swim Course – kids will swim 50 yards, parallel to the Andrew’s Bay shore in waist deep water with Seattle Aquatics lifeguards between kids and deeper waters. For the safety of all athletes, kids will go out in groups of 5-10 at a time. Kids times start after crossing the swim start mat, not while they are in line.
Kids’ Triathlon Event Timeline
8 a.m. – Kids’ Transition Zone Opens (kids will be able to rack bikes at this time)
9 a.m. – Kids’ Triathlon Final Registration & Packet Pickup Opens (though the transition are will be open early, you will not be able to pick up materials until 9:00am at the transition zone packet pickup tent)
10:30 a.m. – Kids Short Course Start
11 a.m. – Kids Long Course Start
