When a child enters Roaring Mouse Creative Arts Studio, you’ll notice The Change.
Eyes light up. Imaginations spark. Senses come alive. Your little mice can hardly wait to begin, with choices aplenty: Should we paint? Play musical instruments? Dance?
The options are endless, and that’s the way Roaring Mouse founder Lassie Webster likes things. For more than 20 years, she’s been piquing the interest of kids by combining the arts with social-emotional learning and community building.
Located in a cheerful, light-filled space in Ravenna, Roaring Mouse offers daily preschool and creative arts classes for kids ages 2.5 to 5, with a 2 to 15 teacher-student ratio. Classes function as an emerging curriculum, which means that a child expresses interest in something and then materials, projects and discussions enhance the child’s learning process.
Roaring Mouse is known for its dedicated teaching staff, which includes teenage assistants, many of whom are former students. It also has a rep for super-creative birthday parties, popular holiday gift-making classes and summer camps for kids ages 2.5 to 11.
“It’s all about the connections we make,” says Webster. “There is a joyfulness that comes with being creative together.”
