Back when we were kids, our options for hitting up a restaurant with a play space meant choosing between pizza at Chuck E. Cheese or burgers at Mickey D’s. But these days, it’s a whole lot easier to nosh at kid-friendly eateries serving fresh food made with local ingredients that also offer spaces for kids to work out the wiggles. From train tables to pinball machines, we’ve rounded up eight Seattle-area eateries that will keep your tykes occupied, and maybe even give you a few minutes for grown-up conversation.

Chaco Canyon Organic Café

Chaco Canyon’s café, with three locations in West Seattle, the U-District and Greenwood, serve up super healthy food in a bright and well-lit space. Open since 2011, the popular organic and vegetarian restaurant boasts a simple play space with a train table, chalkboard wall, books and a smattering of toys—giving you a little more time to savor that butternut cranberry sandwich.
