“The greater Seattle area has its fair share of parks, with loads of fun destinations and features for kids. Head out to Saltwater State Park near Des Moines, or hit the people- and horse-friendly trails at Bridle Trails State Park, or splash it up at Lake Sammamish State Park in nearby Issaquah.
Or a favorite “get away from it all” spot for kids and parents is Saint Edward State Park in Kenmore! This day-use park is a natural oasis in the midst of an urban landscape. With a network of meandering hiking and biking trails, 3,000 feet of undeveloped freshwater shoreline and a secluded garden alcove called The Grotto, there’s plenty of exploring to do. But from a kid’s-eye view, perhaps the biggest attraction at Saint Edward is the park’s interactive playground— a castle-themed big toy so enormous it really takes multiple visits to fully explore. The playground is wisely divided into two sections—one for toddlers and one for older kids.
As you watch your little monkeys joyously climbing, crawling and sliding around on the fun features, take a moment to silently thank community and volunteers who donated their time and money to build this gem! For more information about Washington State Parks, please visit http://www.parks.wa.gov.”
