The holiday season is in full swing, so get out and soak it all up. On our weekend roundup: a Broadway production based on a popular Disney movie, a party with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a holiday show for all ages and a Christmas-themed railway excursion. Disney’s The Lion King (pictured)
Disney’s The Lion King is making its triumphant return to the Paramount Theatre and you don’t want to miss it. Based on the 1994 Disney animated film of the same name, this Broadway musical will feature actors in animal costumes, giant hollow puppets and all of your fave songs from the movie along with a few new ones. Seattle Center Winterfest
You’ll find lots of free and affordable activities and entertainment for the whole fam at the Seattle Center. See a miniature winter train and village inside the Amory (and get a chance to work the controls with a small donation), visit the Winterfest ice rink, see ice sculpting demonstrations and enjoy live performances from a variety of local groups, including the Garfield Jazz Band. Santa Landing Party at Museum of Flight
Touch down at the Museum of Flight and catch Mr. and Mrs. Claus as they arrive from the skies (no reindeer required for this flight). Photo ops with the dynamic duo, including ample time for reciting wish lists, will be available, while The Boeing Concert Orchestra and the Boeing Band perform holiday hits to get you in the Christmas spirit. Sat. Shrek The Musical Jr.
Looking for a fun, family production? Watch as everyone’s favorite ogre leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairytale, Shrek Jr. is an exciting show with a powerful message for the whole family. Thurs.-Sun. Event details.


Clara and the Nutcracker
Before The Nutcracker, there was a book by the same author of The Three Musketeers. In this Bellevue Youth Theater holiday production, see the story that inspired The Nutcracker and all the fun that comes from a live production. Fri.-Sun. Event details.

Northwest Railway Museum Santa Train
This is your last chance to board the Santa Train and take a festive round-trip excursion from North Bend to Snoqualmie. During your trip, kids will get to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, sip on hot cocoa and nosh on yummy cookies baked in the kitchen car’s coal-fired ovens.
