Seattle’s First-Ever Moving Indoor Playground
Winter is just around the corner which means it’s time to figure out where to let the kiddos loose when it’s too cold and too rainy to hang outside. Lucky for us, there are several indoor play spaces where you can kick back with a cup of coffee and enjoy the indoors as the kiddos burn off some craziness. But, if you’re tired of the same ol’, same ol’ play spaces, WiggleWorks offers a totally unique (and totally cool!) playground experience for lil’ ones!
Located inside the Crossroads Mall, this brand new (and very brightly colored!) soft-play children’s playground and party facility is designed for kiddos less than 48” in height. That’s right! A playground specifically designed for the Littles where you don’t need to be Disneyland height to enjoy the ride!
Built on the Yu Kids PlaySystem from BLD Oriental Ltd, the greatest difference between WiggleWorks and other children’s play areas is the majority of the soft-play equipment has MOTION (think Wipeout for kids!). The playground is designed to provide kids with ample opportunity to work on gross motor skills, coordination, and balance while helping to increase strength, flexibility, and agility. WiggleWorks also offers a specifically cordoned off area for infants, away for toddlers and preschoolers, with age-appropriate toys and activities to foster learning and development.
While WiggleWorks was primarily designed to provide kiddos with a high-energy playtime experience (hence the name), owner Elaina Herber (and mom of two little ones) also designed the space with parents and caregivers in mind. By offering stools and a high counter around the entire structure along with free Wi-Fi, a snack area, ample stroller parking, restrooms equipped with changing facilities and supplies, and a menu of healthy snack items (available at a reasonable price in case you forget yours at home!), it’s hard for parents not to love this place as much (or even more!) than their kiddos do.
In addition to the playground, WiggleWorks offers a semi-private party room (with a small kitchen) for birthday parties, community gatherings or even family get-togethers. A weekend birthday party package (for 1.5 hours) will cost you $250 whereas a weekday birthday party will cost you $199 and weekday room rentals start at $150. For an additional charge, WiggleWorks will even throw in a birthday party coordinator, party supplies, and party food! Now, that’s what we’re talking about busy mommas!
By now, you might be asking yourself how much this fab playground is going set you back. And, surprisingly this is where it really gets good! For just $10 per child ($8 per sibling), kiddos can play ALL day long! This means you can go and grab a bite to eat inside the mall or get some shopping done in between wiggle time! If you’re a mom of an infant who is just looking for some mom-to-mom socialization time, Herber invites you to come in and enjoy the space and she isn’t going to charge you a dime. That’s right! Kiddos under 1 are absolutely free!
Herber built WiggleWorks to connect the community through play, socialization, music, and movement, and promote a supercharged approach to staying active. She also built and designed WiggleWorks to provide children basic socialization opportunities to get the wiggles out! If everything goes well with this Bellevue flagship location, Herber plans to open 10 additional locations within the next three years including one in Seattle and two in Oregon, Utah, and Vancouver, Canada.
