Serena Williams has long been a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court, breaking records and being a role model for young girls and athletes across the world. Now her newborn daughter is setting a precedent of her own that is sure to make some waves.

On September 1, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. was born to her famous parents Serena Wiliams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, making for a very unusual name choice. While many celebrities buck the norm with one-of-a-kind baby names, like Apple and Blue Ivy, this power couple went unconventional with a seemingly conventional choice.

Naming a baby after a parent was once a very traditional choice, though it is not as popular these days. What really makes the choice unique, however, is that it is extremely rare for a female to be named after her father, or vice versa. “In this case, the baby should be called Alexis Olympia Ohanian ‘the second,’ using Roman numerals,” Redmond Satran, co-founder of Nameberry told Yahoo! Beauty, “I haven’t seen a construct like this in 30-odd years I’ve been in business.” While Alexis doesn’t share the same middle name as her dad, Olympia is likely a nod to her mom’s Olympic gold medals and goddess-like moves.

The couple introduced their baby and her trailblazing name in a touching Instagram post earlier this week. Only time will tell what amazing things she grows up to do, but we predict a new baby-naming trend on the horizon.
