It’s a New Year, which means we’re all making resolutions. Often, those involve exercise, right? Whether you want to fit comfortably into your skinny jeans, gain muscle or reach some other fitness goal, like a half marathon, you’re gonna need to lace up those gym shoes to make it happen. Unfortunately, exercise can fall by the wayside when you’re a busy mom with young children, especially when you don’t have a place to leave the kids while you’re squeeze in your workout. Well, we’re taking that excuse out of the equation. These five awesome gyms offer childcare!
The Dailey Method – Carlsbad
This is not your traditional gym. The Dailey Method offers one-hour classes that combine ballet barre work, core conditioning, stretching and orthopedic exercises. These exercises will strengthen, tone, and lengthen your entire body and even better, you’ll notice results quickly. It’s also for people at all fitness levels.
Childcare: Local moms love the childcare provided by The Dailey Method in Carlsbad. You can take your kids to the childcare room during any of the following four classes Monday through Friday: 8:45 am, 10:00 am, 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. On Saturdays, childcare is available for the 8:30 am and 8:45 am classes. The cost is $5 per child and the age limit is 10 years old.

Total Woman Gym & Day Spa
Total Woman Gym & Day Spa is equipped with high end cardiovascular and weight training equipment, a complete schedule of group fitness classes and a full service Pilates studio. You can also purchase personal training sessions. You caught the “spa” part of the name, right? Book facials, massages, waxes and more. The purchase of two spa services each month earns you free membership for the month.
Childcare: One self-described “picky” local mom said the childcare room here, called the Kids Club, is the only one in a gym where she’ll leave her kids while she works out. You can take advantage of childcare Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and 4:45 pm to 8:00 pm. On Friday and Saturday, hours are 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

La Jolla Sports Club
La Jolla Sports Club is a premier fitness center that offers several levels of membership. You’ll find endless classes, including spin, Pilates, group fitness, dance and cardio, along with boot camp, personal training services and more. And once again, don’t forget the spa, which offers massages, waxing, facials and more. Ahhhh.
Childcare: The Club’s website says it all: “Don’t skip a workout or treatment for lack of a babysitter. La Jolla Sports Club recognizes that busy parents are most in need of stress-relieving exercise, a good massage-or both!” Amen to that! You can purchase childcare daily or monthly. Experienced staff takes care of your little ones during your workout. If you have a child 7 or older, a PlayStation is available to them. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm; Friday and Saturday from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm; and Sunday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Toby Wells YMCA
Located in Kearney Mesa, this 45,000 square foot facility houses an awesome gym… with childcare! You’ll find a crosstraining center, an indoor pool, personal training, a sauna, spa, dance classes and, oh yes, free care for your kiddos at Toby Wells YMCA.
Childcare: The Kids Place takes care of your kids between the ages of 3 months and 12 years free of charge. Even better, this service is free with the Family Membership. Just make sure you’re done with your workout on time — late fees are $1 per minute!

Jungle Gym & Cafe
Newly opened in Santee, Ca, the Jungle Gym & Cafe is part family entertainment center, part workout facility. But before you go thinking this is a just a suped up version of Chuck E. Cheese, think again. The fitness studio is run by the owner, Tonya, who also happens to be a fitness expert. She offer classes in Zumba, Yoga, Step Aerobics, Body Sculpting with Weights, Boot Camp, and more.
Childcare: For $11 your kiddo gets access to a Jungle Gym filled with a Jungle themed bounce house, a foam block pit, hammock swings, sumo suits, an airplane play structure, and an infant/toddler area for the littler set (ages 0-3). Non walkers are free with a paying sibling, or $5 by themselves.
