Coronado’s Gluten Free Pantry
This newbie bakery is making a name for itself by offering a wide variety of quality items. Owner, and baker Roanna Canete knows how to treat customers with care. She opened her bakery to help families with kids who have food allergies find delicious food without a struggle. Her kitchen is dedicated gluten free, she uses all organic ingredients, and will tailor recipes to accommodate any food allergies.
For the holidays, order up basics such as pie crusts, stuffing mix and sourdough bread that make hosting easy as pie. Make your guests’ mouth water with unique offerings such as rich, decadent spice cake with brown butter frosting, carrot cake and bread pudding. Or, bring a huge smile to a gluten free kid’s face with a gingerbread house or gingerbread cookies.
Though this bakery has no storefront, shoppers can find their goodies weekly at the North Park Farmer’s Market Thursdays, 3-7p.m. Order online or over the phone and pick up on Coronado Island (when you place the order you are given a pickup address and time) or at the farmer’s market. Holiday specials should be pre-ordered a week in advance.

Owner, Jaime Swartz took a new path in her life opening Starry Lane Bakery after experiencing the fear associated with a nut allergy in adulthood. It’s a good thing Jaime followed her dreams–Starry Lane, a dedicated facility free of all of the top food allergens, is a hit with San Diego families.
Customers rave about the bakery’s delicious cookies, cupcakes and bars- some of the best in town, period. This East County gem boasts an extensive holiday menu including five types of pie, stuffing mix, pie crusts, dinner rolls, cornbread, cookies, chocolates and toffee! Some items are available daily for walk in customers, but custom orders are necessary for pies, as well as specially decorated cupcakes and sugar cookies.

Best known as a cafe that takes pride in offering locally-sourced, organic food with many gluten free options, Nutmeg Cafe and Bakery has some pretty sweet offerings for those with gluten sensitivities. Customers love the gluten free bread served for french toast and sandwiches. Though not a dedicated gluten free kitchen, they take every caution to avoid cross contamination.
