Your kids love spaghetti and mac and cheese––so use your noodle to build on their love of these dishes by taking them out for a bowl of Japanese ramen. Despite what you may think, there’s a lot more to ramen than just a dry noodle brick with extra salty seasoning. Considered to be a staple in Japan, ramen comes in a variety of delicious flavors. And unlike the instant stuff, restaurant served ramen is an entirely different soup game. Plus, it just so happens that Chef Andrew Zimmern said one of our top picks has the best ramen in America ––yep, right here in San Diego! Read on to be bowled over.

Tajima

Like most popular ramen places, there will be a wait before you're served, but the ramen does not disappoint. This restaurant lets you build your own ramen bowl. You can’t go wrong with the Tajima Ramen with pork and you can choose thin or fat noodles. They offer extra ramen toppings that you can add, such as fried garlic, tofu, cherry tomatoes, corn and more. You can also order extra noodles with your soup. You can even get a ramen salad! Sushi, teriyaki and tempura entrees are all on the menu here, just in case soup isn't enough. And if your kiddos are extra good, you can treat them to tempura ice cream for dessert.
