Read on for the details on this free event that will surely delight your kids.
What is the Family Fringe Festival?
The festival introduces kids of all ages to the joys of live performance and visual art. A network of talented Fringe artists from all over the world and within the community bring together families to celebrate the wonder of creativity. The free festival will be held in Starlight Bowl. By attending, you’ll be helping bring new life to this historic open-air amphitheater that used to host the symphony and opera. The amphitheater is undergoing a rebirth through the nonprofit Save Starlight. It hopes to host many more local arts programs in the future.
Workshops: Get Interactive
Get your bodies moving throughout the day by participating in interactive workshops in dance, acro theatre and creative movement. The Fringe Festival challenges people to go beyond their comfort zones and try something new.
- Test your flexibility as you create interesting shapes with your bodies as a family by working with the artistic group “Flight.”
- Rally your whole clan into roaring laughter as you create interactive acrobatic comedy with “The Bossy Flyer” from Long Beach.
Performances: Jugglers, Acrobats and Dancers!
Be inspired by talented kid performers Jam Fusion, a local, award-winning rock band. The festival will also host a railroad themed magic show, circus acrobats, hip hop dancers, theatre and puppetry. Click here to see the day’s lineup of talent.
Activity Booths: Get Creative
At Fringetivity booths, explore your artistic side as you paint a rock, make a mask and learn to face paint. Take outrageous pictures together in the family photo booth. Don’t miss: The Flying Fringelo where you catapult the festival’s mascot toward a target. Hosted by San Diego Guild Of Puppetry and local artists.
