Imagine yourself relaxed, sipping wine and enjoying a peaceful afternoon at a vineyard––with your little ones in tow! No, you’re not dreaming. We’ve discovered 6 local wineries that feature kid-friendly perks to keep your entire bunch entertained. From live music and bonfire nights to playgrounds and bocce courts, scroll through our slideshow to see where to raise a glass to wineries that make a visit to the vineyard a family affair.
San Diego’s oldest operating vineyard isn't just a winery, it's more like an old world village. A village that is home to four vineyards, an old barrel room and antique wine-making equipment for visitors to explore. You can wander through artists shops to catch a glimpse of everything from mosaics and oil paintings to botanical soaps. After soaking in the village, grab a cheese plate and a glass of wine and head over to the grassy area where you can relax and the kiddos can run around in the idyllic setting. If you want to take advantage of the wine tasting with chocolate pairings (who doesn’t?), grab a table on the patio and kick back as you listen to live music and your kids get their groove on. Stop by on Friday mornings for the Farmers Market where you’ll find local produce and lots of other families. Or swing by Friday nights to enjoy a sunset art walk. Whatever time or day you choose to visit Bernardo Winery, you'll find plenty of family-friendly fun.
Insider’s Tips: Be sure to pack a blanket and toys for the kiddos to use while in the grassy park. It’s okay to bring snacks for the kiddos, but the winery does not allow outside food or drinks for adults. Also, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the winery during the holiday season!
