Carmel Valley

Painting, Storytime & Singing with Rapunzel
Come paint and play with Rapunzel! This heartwarming event includes storytime, crafting and meeting the princess. Rapunzel will make a grand entrance and gather the kids for storytime, she’ll tell a 10 minute interactive story with song, show the kids her painting and ask them if they want to paint one too. Then kids will paint a picture with the art teacher and when the event comes to an end, Rapunzel can pose for photos and interact with guests as they leave. Fri. Event details.

Poway

Inflatable Days at The Poway Community Pool Center
Bounce on over to the Swim Center for an inflatable day. Inflatable days are public sessions when there will be one of two larger Inflatables out so everyone can join the fun! Spring sessions are every other Friday April 14-June 9th and each day will have three one-hour sessions at 3:30 p.m, 4:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. Each participant will need to pay daily admission for the pool and then pay the inflatable fee. Each swimmer will also be swim tested, regardless of age. Life Jackets are available. Fri. Event details.

La Jolla

Grunion Run
Observe the mysterious grunion spawn the beaches of La Jolla. The night offers an interactive presentation on grunion, a chance to see the grunion eggs hatch and a moonlight breach exploration to witness the grunion run! Be prepared for cool, wet conditions and bring a flashlight. Minors age 6+ must be accompanied by a paid adult. Pre-purchase is required. Start and end times vary by date. Note: Grunion Runs do not meet at Birch Aquarium. Fri. Event details.

Balboa Park

Art Alive
Art Alive 2017 celebrates its 36th year as more than 100 top floral designers bring the San Diego Museum of Art’s permanent collection to life! This year marks the return of three-time Rotunda Designer Carlos Franco of Green Fresh Florals who will use his spectacular inventiveness to transform the John M. and Sally B. Thornton Rotunda into a FloraMorphic Sky of Colors. Kids will enjoy the Garden of Activities which features a Museum-wide flower hunt, a children’s reading area and a variety of floral-inspired art projects designed for families to do together. Little Italy

Mission Federal Artwalk
The ArtWalk in Little Italy is the city’s original outdoor fine art festival which will celebrate its 33rd anniversary this year. The ArtWalk features professional artists from Southern California, the U.S. and Mexico and collectable and approachable art in all mediums, such as drawings, jewelry, sculptures, paintings, photography, metal work, wood work and much more. The weekend-long event fills a 17 block area of San Diego’s foodie headquarters, Little Italy. The free family-friendly event will not only include art, but also live musical and dance performances, street food, interactive art activities and KidsWalk—offering a wide range of creative projects for families. Cirque du Soleil’s family-friendly show, Mystere, will have an interactive mural located near KidsWalk on Beech Street for families and attendees to participate in. Revelers will also get to participate in the making of a live large-scale mural and paint alongside famous local muralists Mario Torero and Maxx Moses. Sat. & Sun. Event details.

Encinitas Street Faire
Families, kids and dogs, head to the Encinitas Street Faire to enjoy over 450 unique food, arts and crafts vendors plus four entertainment stages, children’s rides, Bike Valets and a Beer Garden. Savor craft beers and soak up the sun while listening to the best bands in San Diego rock out at the Beer Garden Stage. Pirate Plunge
Come dressed in a swimsuit and enjoy swashbuckling activities including diving for treasure, cannonball crush, ship raider race and lots more fun. Celebrate the Pacific Islands Culture
Join San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum for a celebration of the cultures and communities of the Pacific Islands. The afternoon includes storytelling by Literature Comes to Life, Polynesian, Tahitian and hula dancing performances by Motu Nehenehe Polynesian Dancers, as well as a live ukulele performance and traditional snacks from the Pacific Islands for visitors to sample. Girls on the Go Run
Join thousands of fellow Girls on the Go on a scenic run through Mission Bay Park & Fiesta Island while enjoying panoramic bay views of grassy knolls, palm trees and the blue bay. Downtown

Chocolate Festival
This year’s Maritime Museum Chocolate Festival, which celebrates the history of chocolate and how it arrived in America via seafaring travels, will take place on several vessels. Kids and adults will be able to make their own chocolate pizzas, learn kitchen tricks using chocolate and peruse and sample a variety of chocolates from 15 vendors. Sun. Event details.
