Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition
Does toast always land butter-side down? What keeps you drier: running in the rain or walking through it? Can you really pull a tablecloth off of a fully set table without disturbing a dish? In this amazing hands-on exhibition, you can put these myths to the test—just as the team from the popular MythBusters TV show has done for years! Use scientific observations and your own curiosity to search for the truth behind some commonly held beliefs. MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition includes live demonstrations, visitor participation and spectacular sets and experiences from the TV show. On display in the expanded upstairs galleries, the exhibition will overflow with hands-on props and gadgets from the show. Go try your hand at busting some new myths, as well as some old favorites. Read & Romp
The family fundraiser encourages parents to read to their kids and promote a love of reading. The event is best suited for kids ages 8 and under. All proceeds benefit the pediatric literacy program Reach Out and Read San Diego. Pete the Cat and friends will greet guests at the door. San Diego Chinese New Year Fair
Celebrate the Year of the Dog at the Chinese New Year Fair. This free, family-friendly two-day event showcases exciting performances, Asian art and culture, an array of delicious Chinese and Asian food and much more. The Fair is the largest event in San Diego County to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. There will be food and commercial booths, continuous live performances on stage, lion and dragon dancers, an Asian Story Theater, cultural displays, and educational crafts at the children’s area. Adventure Day Sail Aboard San Salvador
Set sail! Maritime Museum of San Diego offers an unforgettable sailing adventure aboard San Salvador, a replica of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s ship that arrived at the port we now call San Diego on September 28, 1542. This 4-hour adventure is perfect for those who love history and sailing. Very few people have sailed aboard galleons of the sixteenth century and this experience offers the chance to be aboard the magnificent galleon, San Salvador. No sailing experience required. San Salvador has sailed to Oxnard, Monterey, Morro Bay, Channel Islands, Santa Barbara, and San Pedro as part of her multi-year Pacific Heritage Tour. Note: Space is limited. Tidepooling Adventure With Birch Aquarium at Scripps
Visit a local tide pool with Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Learn how these amazing habitats and their inhabitants truly survive between a rock and a hard place. Trained naturalists will show you how to tread lightly during your visit and how to protect and preserve these natural wonders. Pre-purchase of tickets required. Depending on the date, tidepooling takes place at Dike Rock or False Point. Note: Tidepooling does not take place at Birch Aquarium. Sun. Event details.
