11th Annual Cupcake Extravaganza at Eclipse Chocolate
Eclipse Chocolate’s 11th Annual Cupcake Extravaganza returns to the South Park confectionary. During these ten days of festivities, San Diegans can experience 24 limited-time flavors created by Eclipse’s founder and Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games winner Will Gustwiller – plus, a pop-up baby goat petting zoo and prizes including free gourmet cupcakes for a year. Eclipse Chocolate will celebrate the final day of its Annual Cupcake Extravaganza from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.on July 8th by transforming its outdoor patio into a baby goat petting zoo designed for all ages to enjoy – a quirky, yearly tradition that has become a neighborhood favorite event. No reservations are necessary to participate in Eclipse Chocolate’s Annual Cupcake Extravaganza, but early arrivals are highly encouraged to ensure choice of flavors. Eclipse Chocolate will reveal the event’s flavors on its social media, with confirmed flavors thus far including Toasted S’mores, Strawberry Lemonade, Marshmallow Banana, Whoopie Pie, Pina Colada and Mango Salsa. Wake Up With Wildlife: Climate Kids
Head to the San Diego Humane Society for this fun, interactive and family friendly event with scientists from the Climate Science Alliance. Through hands-on science, art and storytelling activities, you’ll gain an understanding of what pollinators are, their important role in our lives and how a changing climate and increased human activity will affect them and our food production. Meet an animal ambassador, observe some of our local pollinator species and make a commitment to helping the Earth through a special art project. Sat. Event details.
Touch A Truck
San Diego’s original Touch A Truck is back for its 10th year of exhilarating Fun and Funds Raised for Kids Cancer, giving little drivers the green light to sit behind the wheel and honk the horn to their little hearts’ content in every type of vehicle imaginable. And best of all, the funds raised benefit the Beat Nb Foundation in their mission of curing cancer for kids. Cobras, rat rods, show-n-shine classics… amazing vehicle owners bring some nice iron to sit in. You’ll also see (and explore!) a helicopter, emergency vehicles, motorcycles, construction trucks, off-road racers, Star Wars and Marvel characters, a singing princess, food truck (of course), games, a most amazing lemonade stand and more. It gets better every year. 100% of the ticket price goes to research and treatments for kids battling cancer. Touch A Truck is 100% volunteer-driven and many of the services and equipment used to produce Touch A Truck are donated or heavily discounted in order to maximize the money raised. Sat. Summer Movies in the Park: Ferdinand
The City of Poway presents free Summer Movies in the Park! Bring a blanket and enjoy “Ferdinand” under the stars. Movies will be shown on a giant, cinema-quality screen shortly after sunset. A free, family-fun recreation area opens 90 minutes before the movie begins. Food vendors will be selling concessions. Open Cockpit Days
Come sit in a plane! Several aircraft will be open for visitors to experience Marine aviation from a pilot’s perspective. See 31 historical aircraft up close in an outdoor setting. Indoor displays include hundreds of artifacts from the earliest days of aviation to the present day. Free admission and parking. The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is aboard Marine Corps Air Station-Miramar. The sentry-free museum entrance is on Miramar Rd., 3.9 miles east of I-805 and 1.3 miles west of I-15.
