Summer is in full swing, which means there’s plenty of time to attend a few events that top our list. From a positively perfect Princess Tea Party to a symphonic celebration of the Padres 50th anniversary, this weekend has something to delight everyone. Read on for the details.

Coronado

Hotel Del’s Movies on the Beach
Known for its beauty and unique experiences, Hotel Del delights the whole fam with movies on the beach. You can rent a beach chair for $20 or take it to the next level with the VIP Family Movie package that includes great amenities like a s’mores fire set-up ($300). Downtown

Star Spangled Pops
Pay tribute to the nation’s history with patriotic favorites, rousing tunes, familiar film soundtracks and Broadway blockbusters. The evening closes with a magnificent fireworks display. Todd Ellison conducts and is joined by Broadway star Ross Lekites (Frozen, Kinky Boots) and the San Diego Master Chorale. Fri. & Sat. Princess Tea Party at The Westgate Hotel
Dreams will come true at The Westgate Hotel as they host the first ever Princess Tea Party. Little ones will have the opportunity to sip tea like a royal with their favorite princesses complete with songs, a princess oath and a special photo opportunity. Meanwhile, the Westgate’s renowned afternoon tea will be served, complete with signature house-made pastries, desserts, premium teas and delicious kid-friendly beverages. The Princess Tea Party will take place on Sat., June 29, from 2:30–5 p.m. in the Versailles Ballroom. The price is $99 for adults, $65 for children ages 2-12 and complimentary for ages one and under. Celebrate the Padres with the Symphony
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of our San Diego Padres! Celebrate with a musical tribute to America’s favorite pastime with a program that highlights their greatest hits, runs and wins and baseball tunes. Rob Fisher conducts the San Diego Symphony and is joined by Broadway stars Ross Lekites (Frozen, Kinky Boots) and Bianca Marroquín (ChicagoIn the Heights and Mexico’s very popular Mira Quien Baila) as well as the San Diego Master Chorale. Program to include: “Heart” from Damn Yankees “Bring Him Home” from Les Misérables “America” from West Side Story Plus music by John Philip Sousa, George M. Balboa Park

Nighttime Zoo
Enjoy a “rocking” good time throughout the Zoo all summer long at the Nighttime Zoo celebration. As the days get longer, guests can take advantage of extended Zoo hours to join in all the fun of Nighttime Zoo’s special activities, evening festivities and live entertainment—including African-themed dancers and toe-tapping music from favorite Zoo performers, the Rock and Roar band and the Chameleons brass band. Families will also discover surprising encounters, stilt walkers, exceptional trampoline performances, acrobatic feats and much more. Starting June 28, returning for its second year, “Call of the Night” will bring a thrilling 12-minute symphony of live music, lasers, moving lights, rhythmic acrobats, fog and bubbles that will astound spectators. 15th Annual Switchfoot Bro-Am Beach Fest
Join 17,000+ attendees of all ages in an empowering community movement of giving through a day of surf, food, fun and live music. Event highlights include a surf contest featuring Rob Machado Juniors, pro teams, surf jousting and challenged athletes, a live performance by Switchfoot and special guests, local and national vendors and brand activations. Mission Valley

Sensory Sunday with Ruth and Emilia
In collaboration with Autism Society of San Diego, Mission Valley Library welcomes families with kids on the spectrum to a sensory-friendly program featuring performers Ruth and Emilia. Recommended for children ages 3-10, this interactive children’s show will feature upbeat music and an imaginative story. After the show, families can explore the library, check out items, or enjoy the sunny patio.
