Friday Night Alive!
The summer celebration is back and Friday nights come alive as Balboa Park fuses two fan-favorite events for one terrific evening! Food Truck Friday and Balboa Park After Dark combine for an awesome night of games, hands-on creative projects, live entertainment, a rotating assortment of food trucks and later museum hours at several museums! Family Fringe Day
Family Fringe is proud to feature works for all ages that will introduce young people to the joys of live performance and visual art. Through a network of talented Fringe artists and generous sponsorships within the community, they are thrilled to offer exciting and inspiring family programming that is completely free including: family-friendly performances featuring dance, music, theatre, storytelling, circus and puppetry, Fringetivity booths and interactive workshops in dance, acro theatre and creative movement. Summer Movies in the Park
The City of Poway presents free Summer Movies in the Park! Bring a blanket and enjoy “The Lego® Ninjago Movie” under the stars. Movies will be shown on a giant, cinema-quality screen shortly after sunset. A free, family-fun recreation area opens 90 minutes before the movie begins. Food vendors will be selling concessions. Parking at Poway Community Park is free but can fill up fast; come early and get a good seat! Sat. Event details.
Poway Summer Concert Series: Pop Vinyl
Some of the best local entertainment and summer fun returns to Poway with the Summer Concert Series! Arrive early to secure a spot in front of the stage. Come hungry because there will be Food Trucks offering food for purchase (or bring your own picnic). Bring your blanket or chair and have a great time with family and friends. Fairy Festival at the Botanic Garden
Calling all young fairies! Come celebrate summer at San Diego Botanic Garden. Wear your fairy costume or come just as you are. Take pictures with the Fairy Princess, leave your wish at the Wishing Bush, build a Fairy House, decorate a Magic Mushroom, paint and fill a Treasure Chest, make a Flower Fairy, decorate a Fairy Cradle and make a Fairy Baby, decorate a Magic Wand, paint a Unicorn Ornament, fill a Fairy Dust Necklace, get your face painted, and visit the Fairy Land Market. Mass Creativity Day
Mass Creativity is a series of outreach workshops designed to inspire imagination and creativity and make hands-on art-making accessible to those that might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. Each year the Mass Creativity program consists of complimentary workshops in diverse communities in San Diego that take place throughout April-June and culminate in a free all-day event at the Museum where visitors will enjoy live entertainment, festivities, art-making and more! The 39th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off
The 39th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off features an ocean view with four stages of continuous live music and entertainment, the community mural project, Artists Alley, carnival rides, games, the chili cook-off, local shops, food and vendor booths, Hodad’s Burger-Eating Competition, a beachside beer garden and more. Summer Safari at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park offers a seasonal extravaganza of world-themed festivities including music, acrobatics, dancing and foods from across the globe. You will be surrounded by international sights, sounds and flavors, along with opportunities for up-close encounters with amazing animals. Explore the world through entertainment from locales around the globe, including Africa, Thailand, India, the Pacific Islands and Mexico. Enjoy acrobatic feats, rhythmic drumming, colorful music and dance, a flag-filled world-themed show and much more. Liberty Station Concert: The Six String Society
ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station welcomes the return of Liberty Station Concerts. The concerts, presented outdoors on the grassy North Promenade on Sunday evenings, feature a collection of popular San Diego musicians and acts. Audiences are invited to bring a blanket, a picnic, and a love of live music. The venue is set up to allow lots of room to dance and get up close to the acts. Concert-goers are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the art galleries, studios and museums of ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. Concerts take place between Stone Brewing World Bistro and the colorful Greetings mural. All ages are invited and no alcohol can be brought into the venue. The Six String Society performs Sun., June 24th. This eclectic, music theatre production celebrates all things crazy, magnificent and fun! The Six String Society mixes theater and multimedia with some of the finest performers around. Each show is unique. This special Liberty Station edition will break new ground and feature the amazing Nathan James, Whitney Shay, Casey Hensley, Billy Watson and Sharifah Muhammed. Sun. Event details.
