Flowers for Mom Flower & Gift Bar
Show Mom your love with something that makes her heart melt! Mint Studio will be having an open house on the two days prior to Mother’s Day and all ages are welcome to their flower bar to create an arrangement and sweet handmade card for mom. Queen Bee Market
Queen Bee Market, San Diego’s original artisan market, will be celebrating its 20th show in the Wyland Center at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The market will be open on Friday from 4-9 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Not only is it a fun-filled time for moms, but it’s also an event that is giving back to the San Diego community. 10% of ticket proceeds will go to the North Coast Auxiliary Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital. The urban-style handmade market will feature a carefully curated selection of the best vintage and handmade goods from over 100 local and national vendors specializing in accessories, clothing, home décor, furniture, vintage items, paper arts and more.

Mother’s Day Acrylic Painting
Join a relaxing beginners acrylic painting class in honor of Mother’s Day. Local artist Julie Marriott will lead participants through the creation of a colorful floral canvas and teach the basics of working with acrylic paints, focusing on color mixing and simple brush techniques. The Country Fair
Yee-haw! Dust off your boots because The Country Fair is coming and it’s going to be an amazing experience for the whole family! This much anticipated event brings people from all over the community together to build camaraderie and create memories while raising money for education. This year’s shindig will be held Fri. May 12th 5-8 p.m. and Sat. May 13th 11a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday night festivities will include food, a live DJ and plenty of fun while you seek thrills on your favorite carnival rides like the Zipper, Crazy Plane, Umbrella Cars, Cycle Jump, Alligator Alley and more. Space Day Celebration
The San Diego Air & Space Museum will host its 14th Annual Space Day celebration featuring demonstrations, giveaways and hands-on activities with local and national space experts. Tons of great activities including: meet a real astronaut, Woody Spring, who flew on the space shuttle and walked in space, touch a meteorite, talk to space experts, build & fly a paper rocket and design your own space patch. Gator by the Bay
Gator By The Bay is the largest, most authentic Louisiana-themed music and food festival this side of the bayou. It features four days of live music with over 100 musical acts on seven stages, along with 10,000 pounds of crawfish trucked from Louisiana, non-stop dancing, shopping, playing and eating on the beautiful San Diego Bay. All areas of the festival are open to kids to enjoy the music, color, spirit and activities of the festival. Fill your belly with good eats from Herb’n Donuts and Taco Picasso. Participate in a workshop and check out a live demo from the vendors. Multiple vendors will be sharing their wares in art, accessories, clothing, home decor, jewelry, plants, skincare, treats & sweets and more. Sweet Petite Confections Chocolate Making Class
Sweet Petite Confections offers chocolate making classes for parents and kids to pair up as a team to learn the basics of working with chocolate. Participants will create their own molded chocolates, chocolate bark and more… and you’ll keep all of your creations. In honor of the Mother’s Day theme of this class, molded chocolates will have passion fruit ganache and champagne caramel. For barks there will be toasted hazelnuts and freeze dried strawberries. At Touch-a-Truck San Diego, the county’s largest fundraising event benefiting kid’s cancer research, you’ll find military and emergency response vehicles, race cars, motorcycles and off-road trucks, construction vehicles of all types, classic cars and trash trucks… even a stage coach and helicopter. This kid-friendly, gearhead extravaganza is a hit with kids of all ages because all of these vehicles are open for you to climb in the driver’s seat, honk the horn and meet the men and women who drive them every day. You’ll also rub elbows with a host of Star Wars characters, play games, enter a raffle, watch Hullabaloo in concert, eat lunch from a food truck (of course!), play laser tag and drink lemonade. In the sky, the Mercy Air Ambulance crew will make a fly-by, land at the event and give tours of the helicopter. 100% of the money raised for Touch A Truck San Diego goes to research and clinical trials for kids fighting cancer right now. Ocean Beach Kite Festival
The Ocean Beach Kiwanis Kite Festival marks a fun day of festivities including kite making & decorating, professional kite fliers and kite demonstrations, an arts and crafts fair, carnival activities gourmet food and live music. Mother’s Day Children’s Cooking Class
Drop your kids off to learn how to cook a Mother’s Day meal while you eat brunch at Waypoint Public. This fun and educational cooking class is led by Chef Alyse Wallace. Kids will prepare a 3 course meal of Crustless Mini Quiche, Nutella Swirl Biscuits and Mom’s Strawberry Lemonade using no sharp objects or heating elements. While the food they prepared is baking, kids will get to watch a video. Note: Class is geared for ages 4-10. Sat. Event details.
Mother’s Day Celebration at The Flower Fields
Take mom to The Flower Fields for the final day of their season to celebrate Mother’s Day. Rancho Buena Vista High School’s Ballet Folklorico will perform colorful dancing on stage and you can make mom a mixed bouquet for the bargain price of $5.
