What Halloween candy is the absolute most popular treat in your neighborhood? Yeah, those chocolate peanut butter cups go over well. And just about every kid is rushing off to the house where they give out the full-sized candy bars. But really, which candy is number one? If you’re wondering what the top treat is, Candystore.com put together a state-by-state ranking of the most popular Halloween candies for 2017!
So how did Candystore.com figure out which goodies are in for this year? Well, they’ve been tracking the candy trends for more than a little bit. Using data from 10 years of sales, they’ve ranked the top three favorite Halloween candies for each state in the US.
What are some of the top sellers? Let’s just say that there’s a lot of geographic variation out there. But Halloween favorites such as candy corn take top honors in Alabama, South Carolina and Idaho and third place in Delaware; Reese’s Cups are in the top three for Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Oregon and Texas; and Skittles are hot in New Jersey, Nevada, Florida and California.
Other notable candies that are faves include M&M’s, Hot Tamales, Milky Way bars, Almond Joy, Snickers and Swedish Fish. Yum!
