We’ve all been there. You’ve got waaaay too many kids climbing all over you, you’re exhausted and you’re wondering just how you can do this mom thing for…umm, forever? You feel alone. You feel overwhelmed. And you feel like you’re kind of doing it all wrong. Well, one mama took to Facebook in an effort to tell all of you that you’re not. Doing it wrong, that is. HGTV host, blogger and author, Jen Hatmaker posted a pic of her 27-year-old self, just having given birth and holding two little ones on her hospital bed. Read on to find out why she posted this photo and what message she has for all of the mommies out there.

Back in 2002, Hatmaker was a new mom. She had a 4-year-old, a 2-year-old and a new baby. Literally, just had a new baby. The photo was taken mere hours after she gave birth. And this week, she posted a super-sweet description of the powerful emotions she felt as she looked back on that time of her life, and the important message she wants to say to other moms.

Writing on her Facebook page, Hatmaker says, “Here is to all you young mamas this morning. I see you. I remember. I know exactly what it feels like to have two in diapers and one still nursing. I remember the exhaustion that seeps all the way into your bones until you fall asleep with your clothes on and your contacts still in.”

She goes on to add, “I want to tell that 27 year old [sic] mom of three the same thing I want to tell you: You are doing a breathtaking, beautiful job. Your children are so loved and they know it.”

So if you’re having one of “those” days, take a look at Hatmaker’s post. It will lift you back up and make you realize just how special you are. It will also give you the encouragement you need right now. And it will give you that sense of sisterhood that you’re searching for.
