Camping via the Skunk Train – Mendocino County, Ca

All aboard! Your adventure begins with a ride on the Skunk Train. So named because old-timers said you could smell it before you saw it, this railroad in Mendocino County got its start in 1885 transporting massive redwood logs to the coast. Now it transports families into the rugged Noyo River Canyon for camping, kayaking and other old-school fun.

Camp Noyo is only accessible by train so you better make sure you pack all your sleeping bags and snacks as there's no heading back into town if you run out of milk. You can reserve one of eight campsites or the River View Chalet that sleeps six, all come with cooking equipment, firewood and other essentials. Kids will love catching frogs and swinging from the rope swing into the crystal clear Noyo River at this off-the-grid adventure like no other.
