As if summer wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, we’ve rounded up 10 fun and funky holidays that will make those lazy days of August a blast. Did you know August is a month to celebrate elephants, bowling and bacon? August 19 – Aviation Day

Spread your wings and fly down to Balboa Park to explore the day at the Air and Space Museum. If you participated in the county or city’s summer reading programs, you may have some free kids admission tickets to this museum ready to put to good use. School-aged kids won’t want to miss the museum’s exhibit To the X-Treme where they can ride a virtual snowboard, climb a rock wall and more all while practicing math skills.
