When you’re a parent you go to great lengths to make your kids happy. For one mom that meant putting up a sign in her workplace that read, “Wanted: Orange Cat.” She doesn’t want a new family pet, however, she just wants to borrow someone’s cat for a lasagna dinner with her kids. (Really.)
Oklahoma mom Clara Edwards recently put up a wanted poster that has since gone viral online for its unusual request. The poster, which was initially shared on Twitter by someone who spotted it at work, reads: “Wanted: to BORROW an orange cat for 24-48 hours, to have a lasagna dinner with Garfield-loving 4-year-old and 2-year-old children. Will return cat happy and cared for. Cat will not be required to eat lasagna…”
The Twitter post quickly blew up, garnering multiple replies from people with orange cats willing to help.
In response to the story Edwards reached out to Mashable to give them an update on her hunt for a temporary feline dinner guest. “I have had two offers for cats,” she explained. “One fell through. She never replied on the day I was going to pick up the cat.”
Edwards said she has another cat possibility lined up, however, for the weekend. “I am a nurse in Oklahoma,” she told Mashable. “A medical student saw my post online (not sure where — I posted it all over work and Craigslist; someone else put it on Twitter and Reddit) and text messaged me… the med student and her boyfriend are (hopefully) going to bring their cat over to eat on Saturday evening.” She promised to keep those following the story updated.
While she gave no explanation about how this special request came about, it’s clear that her kids are big fans of Garfield and that she’s one awesome mom for coming up with this brilliant idea.
