In a time when dashcams seem to be everywhere, it’s no surprise that a dashcam video surfaced this week of a police officer saved a newborn infant’s life. The video is filled with absolute awesomeness. Marion County, Florida Deputy Jeremie Nix was at a stoplight in his police car when a woman flagged him down. As it turns out the motorist had an unresponsive infant—and Nix was about to become an IRL hero.
When Nix got out of his car to help a driver his dashcam caught the entire exchange. The woman in the passenger seat had a baby who was unconscious and unresponsive. The officer jumped to save the baby. Clearly, the situation was dire.
Despite the officer’s efforts, the baby still wasn’t crying or moving. Instead of waiting for paramedics to come, Nix made the decision to take the baby to the hospital himself. The ER was only half a mile away from where Nix had stopped, making it quicker for him to take the three-month-old there himself.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office shared the dashcam clip on Facebook, posting good news about the baby, “We are tremendously proud of Deputy Nix and we can already see that he and Baby Kingston will have a deep connection that will last a lifetime!”
The sheriff’s office also added an update, “We are so thrilled to tell you that Baby Kingston JUST left the hospital with his Mom and he is happy and healthy!!” A dash cam story with a sweet ending? No that’s something that you don’t see every day.
