It’s been reported that your favorite streaming service is testing a new premium subscription and you can call it Netflix Ultra. The Ultra plan would allow subscribers to simultaneously stream to up to four devices in ultra high definition for about $17 a month.
Currently, Netflix customers can choose between Basic, Standard and Premium subscription options for now, and the main difference is how many screens you can stream to at once (1,2 and 4 respectively). The Ultra option would also allow four devices but in 4K and in HDR, a big step up in picture quality from the current options.
A spokesperson for Netflix confirmed Red Tricycle that the Ultra plan was currently in testing in Europe and thus, not available to all Netflix users. “We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time. In this case, we are testing slightly different price points and features to better understand how consumers value Netflix,” the spokesperson said. “Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer the specific price points or features included in this test.”
Those who are able to test out the subscription will no doubt notice it as an option when logging into their account.
While not confirmed, the potential for a new plan does leave us wondering if Netflix will make any changes and perhaps do away with any existing ones. The higher price tag would definitely need to come with tons of perks to warrant the switch.
Stay tuned for more updates and whether this plan will be making its way to the United States any time soon!
