The holidays might be over, but the most wonderful time of the year is officially upon us. That’s right! Girl Scout Cookie season has finally arrived. That magical time when it’s perfectly acceptable to break your diet and eat an entire sleeve of Thin Mints because it’s for a good cause.

The Girl Scouts of America just kicked off its 101st year of cookie sales. And according to USA Today, more than one million Girl Scouts sell around 200 million boxes of cookies each year, raising about $800 million for the organization. The season starts in January and runs until April and it’s nearly impossible to go to work or make a grocery run without running into a girl or parent selling the famous cookies during this time.

Of those millions of cookies sold, the most popular of all remains the Thin Mint, with the coconut-topped Samoas as a close second. However, in 2017 a new flavor was introduced that became instantly popular and one of the highest-selling new cookies of all time. The S’mores cookie, which embodies the flavor and feeling of a scouting camp adventure, was a huge hit and is back again, so it remains to be seen if it can topple the Thin Mint off its reigning spot.
